Poetry and Wisdom

There is a part of the Bible that neither tells stories nor gives laws, but sings, prays, reflects and asks hard questions. These are the poetic and wisdom books: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs. In them we find words to praise God, to weep before Him and to live wisely every day.

In the first module you will discover what biblical wisdom is and how Hebrew poetry works, with its parallelism and its images. In the second module you will learn to pray with the Psalms: the five sections of the book, the different kinds of psalms and the way they speak of Christ. In the third module you will face, with Job, the mystery of the suffering of the righteous, and you will learn the practical wisdom of Proverbs, the honesty of Ecclesiastes and the beauty of love in the Song of Songs.
