How to Study the Bible

The BereaWay Method: receive, examine, connect

Free 10 lessons

Have you ever read a verse and asked yourself, “But what does it really mean?” You are not alone. The Bible is the Word of God, written for everyone; but it was written in languages, cultures and times far from our own. To hear it well, you need a method.

This course walks with you step by step, with no academic background required. We will take as our model the believers in Berea, who “received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so” (Acts 17:11).

In the first module you will discover why reading the Bible always means interpreting it, who holds the “key” to its meaning, and which lenses you bring with you when you open the text.

In the second module you will learn the BereaWay Method in three steps:

  1. Receive: welcome the text in its historical world.
  2. Examine: study the words, the sentences and the passage in their context.
  3. Connect: read each part in the light of the whole of Scripture and bring it into your life.

In the third module you will apply the method to the great genres of the Bible: narratives, Law, poetry, wisdom, prophecy, Gospels, epistles and Revelation.

Each lesson takes about 20 minutes and ends with questions for reflection and a short quiz. The course is free: it is the first step of the BereaWay journey.
