The Gospels and Acts
The story of Jesus and the birth of the Church
Four accounts, one Lord. The Gospels are not mere biographies: they are testimonies written “that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God” (John 20:31). The book of Acts continues the story and shows what happens when the Holy Spirit comes upon a group of frightened disciples.
In this course you will step into the books themselves. In the first module you will discover what “gospel” means, get to know the religious world of Jesus’ day and understand why Matthew, Mark and Luke are so alike and yet each tells the story of Jesus in his own way. In the second module you will read the Gospel of John: the seven signs, the great claims about Jesus and the promise of the Spirit. In the third module you will follow the apostles from Jerusalem “unto the uttermost part of the earth”, learning from Acts how a Spirit-filled church lives and proclaims the good news.
Every lesson applies the BereaWay Method: receive the text in its context, examine it carefully, connect it to the whole of Scripture and to your life.
