Foundations of the Faith
The great truths of the Christian faith, explained simply
Scripture asks us to “be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you” (1 Peter 3:15). To do that you don’t need to be a professional theologian, but you do need to know well what we believe and why we believe it.
This course presents the great truths of the Christian faith in a clear, orderly way, always starting from the Bible.
In the first module we will see why doctrine matters for everyday life and why we can trust Scripture as the Word of God.
In the second module we will contemplate God himself: who he is, what his character is like, what it means that he is one God in three Persons, and how he created the visible and invisible world.
In the third module we will walk through the story of salvation: the dignity and the fall of humanity, God’s grace in Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church and the hope of the Lord’s return.
This is not a course of theory alone. Like the believers in Berea, we will receive each truth from the Word, examine it in the key texts and connect it to life, because good doctrine produces worship, trust and holiness.
This course is the foundation for the Systematic Theology course and for Who Is Jesus, which explores the person and work of Christ in more depth.
