Biblical Ethics

Choosing the good in the light of the Word

9 lessons

Every day we make moral decisions: small ones, like whether or not to tell the truth in a conversation, and big ones, like those concerning life, family or work. The world offers us many criteria: what suits me, what makes the most people happy, what the majority thinks. But a disciple of Christ asks: what pleases God?

This course helps you answer with the Bible in hand. In the first module you will discover what biblical ethics is, what its features are and how it differs from ethics based on consequences or self-interest. You will also learn to read Christian ethics as three concentric circles: God’s commandments, the character of Christ and the heart of God. In the second module we will face difficult situations, when two duties seem to clash, and build a practical method for making decisions. In the third module we will apply everything to concrete questions: the value of life, truth, work, society and the care of creation.

With the BereaWay Method we will receive the texts in their context, examine them honestly and connect them to the whole of Scripture, so as to arrive at choices that are wise, faithful and full of love.
